How Not To Release a Army

February is finally here. All those rumours that Dwarfs would be arriving in February turned out to be absolutely true. However there is one slight issue, Dwarf players may have to wait until the 3rd week of Feb before they get the actual book, the one with all those (hopefully) nice, shinny up-to-date rules that dwarf players have been waiting years for.

I dont know why GW thought that this would be a good idea, perhaps they thought it would build hype and boost sales for the Dwarfs, but considering that Dwarf players have been waiting eight years and one month for this book i am not sure how much hype three weeks could generate that eight years and one month hasn't.

Thar Be Dwarfs

So with the release of the following image it seems like the Dwarf release next month is inevitable.

While the writing is interesting its the Runic Standard thingy directly above this caption that should be grabbing your attention
This is good news as it shows that GW has rediscovered, what i like to call, the Forgotten armies. The Forgotten armies refers to the three armies who still have 6th ed books (as shown by the table below), as you can see Dwarfs got their current book in Jan 2006, Wood Elves in Sep 2005 and Bretonnia waaaay back in the mists of Feb 2004.

Alternate Games Workshop Models: Avatars of War

Today my shipment from Slaves to Painting of Avatars of War products arrived. With the upcoming release of a new Dwarf army book (march, or so the rumors say) i thought it would be a good idea to start a dwarf army that has been at the concept stage for quite some time. And what with my recent boycott of all Game Workshop models, i decided it would be a good idea to try out the Avatars of War Dwarf range.

Now this Dwarf army is a themed one, the theme being Unbreakable, sorry, Slayers. Yes i have wanted to do a Dwarf slayer army ever since i learned about the slayers, and the AOW Dwarf Bezerker range is a excellent substitute for the dull GW metal slayers. Now a quick note before i go on, this post will be comparing GW products to AOW products to give you a better idea of what both companies offer (not that regular readers will need to be reminded of what GW offers).
