After The Launch

Age of Sigmar has arrived and has disappointed many people, i myself only ended up not feeling too down by posting the ridiculous "Talk to your models for bonuses" rules to this very blog. However now the humour is gone and i feel just kinda annoyed, i dont wont to focus on it but GW basically scraped a game that people liked and replaced it with a game that very few people like, all while not talking to their customers about what they wanted. In the aftermath i have seen negative review after negative review slam the game for being a shallow dice fest with none of the tactical depth that 8th edition had. I have read the rules myself and can find very little to interest me in them, what we were given is 4 pages of a game children could play which is great for children but not so great for the rest of us.

What really baffles me is GW's reaction, i have heard that they are actually going to market and push this game, that they will take it to Cons and promote it. This seems like madness to me as Age of Sigmar is a worse game than 8th edition, do they expect people to be interested in this game after they play it?

That brings me to a interesting point, i have seen many people who were willing to support AOS prior to its release (not people who were being cautiously optimistic but actually positively supporting the game) do a complete 180 after playing the game and start to slam it. I haven't seen a positive review, post or sentence about the game from people who have played it.

One of the things that annoys me the most about this whole issue is that GW could have avoided all of this, all of negative reviews, all of customer anger, if GW just talked to us, if they had bother to ask us what we would like to see in a Warhammer redo. Instead GW kept to themselves and made a game for us without ever asking us what we wanted to see in it. And its not like all of us were pessimistic, there were many, many people who wanted AOS to be good and if it had been then GW would have won a major victory but it wasn't.

I don't want to go on too long, others are doing far better job of telling GW just how badly they screwed up with AOS and i am still having fun with 8th edition so my bitterness isn't as bad as it could be. My advise right now, if you are unsatisfied with AOS and you liked WHFB, would be to stick with 8th edition as its not going anywhere and is still as fun and good as its always been. Until next time.

  1. Thanks Rex
I am looking forward to a small tournament with lots of fun scenarios and yes it is still 8th in late August.
No real desire to pick up aos but will see what happens over the next few months.
    Keep up the good work.
